Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

  • The City of Peabody is currently working on updating our Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP).

The LHMP is a critical document in preparing the City for natural disasters. An updated Hazard Mitigation plan assists the City in reducing disaster damage and preventing the loss of life and property. The LHMP prioritizes a community supported mitigation strategy that represents the current needs and values of the community.

An updated LHMP builds and supports climate resilience, develops risk-informed decision making, and is the foundation for making critical investments in hazard mitigation.

The draft Peabody, MA Hazard Mitigation Plan 2025 is available for public review and comment from Monday, January 15, 2026, through Friday, January 23, 2026. A Public Workshop will be held on January 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM in City Hall – Wiggin Auditorium 24 Lowell Street.

Please provide all comments directly to Craig Pereira, Project Manager at cpereira@horsleywitten.com by Friday, January 23, 2026.
